I might have half-jokingly replied that 3-line material would have to turn into 4-line material, but I remembered what she said.
Eventually, I was able to design _Pīnyīn_ Plus material with both literal and effective meanings, rendered in different colours. (Optionally visible “flashcards” are used instead of multiple lines.)
