Frequently Used Words Files Updated

The 2006-10 versions of the Frequently Used Words files have been posted to the Frequently Used Words page. Here is a note from the author about the new files:


I have corrected all the typos in the word list that I found, mostly very minor changes. These are done to the colums Pinyin and English only. Some of them are important, too, such as the tone corrections. A couple of them were totally wrong.

Earlier version included tone marks partly Taiwan style and partly the Mainland style. Considering that this list is mostly used among students outside Taiwan, I decided to try and make the tones consistently now according to the mainland tonal system (this is a little pity since in Taiwan the last syllable is not usually changed into a light tone which makes the speech more understandable). Additionally the tone exceptions of the characters "bu (not)" and "yi (one)" are now indicated consistently.

In the English colum the verb definitions with "to" are consistently in the front now.

I was told the third tones are not clear in some combinations, so space is added in some of these cases in the Pinyin colum.
